World Peace Now Forever Hosts 1st Annual Celebrity Basketball Game
To Promote Peace, Raise Awareness About Lupus, Anti-Bullying
Advocacy and End HIV at the Compton College Center on August 8, 2015
(Compton, CA – August 7, 2015) The World Peace Now Forever, founded by Ricky Miller, and Hip-Hop Pioneer and Legend SilkyD, teamed up to produce the 1st Annual Celebrity World Peace Now Forever Basketball Game as a platform to educate the community about Lupus, advocate against bullying, end HIV and the importance of peace. WPNF Game will be played at the Compton College Center Gym, 1111 E. Artesia Blvd., Compton, CA 90221. Media check-in at noon. Red carpet arrivals begin at 1 p.m. A pre-show follows and the game will commence at 3:30 p.m. Surprise performances at half-time include West Coast PopLockers, Hip Hop Artists Shuga Rae and Ron Deuce.
“After the loss of my daughter to Lupus, my wife and I established the World Peace Now Forever Foundation in her memory,” said Ricky Miller. “The Celebrity Basketball Game is one of the ways to celebrate her life, bring the Compton community together and address some of the challenges we face on a daily basis.”
With the sponsorship of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a minimum of 1,000 attendees can be quickly tested on Saturday. AHF is leading a mass testing initiative to identify and treat the 25 million people who don’t know they are infected. “The Compton community really supports this highly anticipated event,” said SilkyD. “This event is made possible by the generous donations of their time, products, and services.” Pendulum TV will stream the game live.
Celebrities confirmed: R&B singer Michel’le, Arabian Prince (original NWA member), Young Hollywood Dunks (2015 All Star Slam Dunk Champion), Darrin DeWitt Henson, Trae Ireland and Shawn “Hazz” McDonald (“Chocolate City”), Neil Brown Jr. (“Straight Outta Compton,”) Comedian AJ Johnson, Peanut, Patrick Faucette (OWNTV “The Haves and Have Nots”), Robert Christopher Riley (VH1 “Hit the Floor”), Melvin Jackson, Jr. (The Wire), Kiara Belen (America’s Next Top Model runner up), Tammy Brawner (10th female in history to play for Harlem Globetrotters), Tanya “Freckles” White, and more!
The game is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for adults and youth 16 years and up. $10 for college students with student ID. Youth under 15 years old are free. Parking is free.
